The family business Industria Gabar, S. L. was founded in 1969 and it began by manufacturing all kinds of wickerwork articles, simple furniture and wicker chairs. Most of its production was destined for export. Countries including Germany, France, Switzerland, Italy and the USA were the first to receive its products..
The production of wicker furniture and chairs began to slow down at the beginning of the 1980s with the appearance of rattan, a new raw material. Rattan was suitable for making all kinds of furniture because of its versatility, strength and elegance, and wicker was relegated to just a few wicker items.
During the 1980s and 1990s, Industria Gabar, S.L. became firmly established as a producer of rattan furniture and wicker articles for both the national market and other European countries, which lent it considerable prestige within the sector.
Towards the end of the 1990s, imitation rattan synthetic fibres appeared, which revolutionised outdoor furniture for gardens and patios. Keenly aware of how the market was developing, Industria Gabar, S.L. launched into the business of outdoor furniture.
In the 2000s, Gabar had three furniture and decor catalogues on the market. Gabar IN had furniture made solely of rattan, Gabar OUT offered furniture made from synthetic fibre, aluminium and teak, and Gabar DECO included decor and wickerwork. With this complete selection, we aim to offer our customers a wide range of furniture and accessories in a Mediterranean style for furnishing each space in the house.
The beginning of the 2010-2020 decade was a time when the rattan market suffered a significant drop in demand, which forced us to concentrate our range of products in two catalogues. One of these was named DECO, which includes a wide range of auxiliary furniture and decor in different styles. The second catalogue, named OUT, offers a contemporary furniture style for furnishing homes both inside and outside.
In 2018, our first VIVE catalogue came out, which offers our customers contemporary furniture for the home, by identifying with the society in which we live.
In 2019, we celebrated our 50th Anniversary.
